9-day trip that includes The Great Lakes Trek, one of the most beautiful in India, crosses several pastures and high peaks of the Himalayan range to reach six alpine lakes with turquoise waters.

The Great Lakes Trek, or “Golden Trek,” lives up to its name. It is indeed one of the most beautiful treks in India. Each day offers a 360° panorama of wild and rugged mountains, rolling meadows, and crystal-clear alpine lakes.

The trek is done in groups of at least 12 people.

Day 1

Arrival in Srinagar - Nageen Lake

Welcome to the Kashmir Valley, paradise on earth! Our representative will pick you up from Srinagar airport and head to Nageen Lake, where you will stay in a romantic houseboat. Overnight in Srinagar aboard a houseboat.
Day 2

Srinagar-Nichnai

After breakfast, drive to Sonmarg (base camp), you will load the horses and start our 5-hour trek through the pine forest and meadows of Shokdari to Nichnai where we will stay for the night in tents.
Day 3

Nichnai - Vishnasar lake

After breakfast, we will continue to Vishansar, climbing one of the three passes of the trek, the Nichnai Pass (4000 m) through beautiful pastures. After the pass, we will enter the Vishansar Valley or "valley of medicinal plants". We gradually descend through this valley and camp at Vishansar Lake. Night in tent.
Day 4

Day at Lake Vishnasar

Relaxing day on the shores of Lake Vishnasar Overnight in a tent.
Day 5

Vishnasar Lake - Gadsar

After breakfast, we depart for Gadsar to discover a new lake, Krishansar Lake, which is located just above a ridge. We will climb the second pass of the trek, Gadsar Pass (4050 m). At the top of this pass, we will have a panoramic view of the entire Vishansar Valley and the twin lakes of Vishansar and Krishansar, the source of the Neelam River. We descend through the valley and Gadsar Lake, where we will camp. Overnight in a tent.
Day 6

Gadsar - Gangabal Lake

After breakfast, we will leave Gadsar and climb easily to Poshpatri (the Valley of Flowers) and then walk gradually to Megandub. A final steep walk will take us to the highest pass of the trek, the Zajibal Pass (4180 m). Fatigue will be quickly forgotten in front of the breathtaking landscapes of the valley with, in the distance, Mount Haramukh (5300 m) and at its feet, the twin alpine lakes of Gangabal and Nundkol. And, precisely, we will descend gently to reach Lake Gangabal where we will spend the night in tents.
Day 7

Gangabal lac

We'll spend a full day at Gangabal Lake to admire the beauty of the place. Overnight in tents
Day 8

Gangabal Lake - Naranag

After breakfast, we descend to the village of Naranag. Leaving Gangabal, we will visit Trunkol and Nunkol, two small, typical shepherd villages (Gujjars), then descend steeply to Naranag.

We will drop off our bags at a guesthouse in Naranag, a serene hamlet of a few inhabitants, built on the left bank of the Wangath River. The village, perched at an altitude of 2,128 m, was founded by Gujjars (nomadic shepherds) from Gujarat (northwest India) who migrated to the foothills of the Himalayas.

You will stay in a homestay, offering basic yet authentic comfort, with organic local dishes and the gentle murmur of the river to lull you to sleep.  
Day 9

Naranag - Srinagar

After visiting the ruins of the Naranag Temple, we'll drive slowly back to Srinagar. Rest and overnight on a houseboat on Lake Nageen.
Day 10

End of the trip

We'll drop you off at Srinagar airport, unless you continue with us to Ladakh! Namaste.
