Stay in Chandubi Lake with the Rabha community
A 5-day ‘carpe diem’ stay with the Rabha community on the shores of Lake Chandubi (Assam), which will offer you an unforgettable human experience.
Assam is home to no less than 200 indigenous communities throughout the country. A number of them (garo, bodo, tiwa …) live on the shores of Lake Chandubi, 60 km from Guhawati, the administrative capital of Assam. The lake stands at the foot of the Garo hills, covered with dense forests. The Rabha community is one of the largest around Chandubi Lake. It belongs to the Indo-Mongoloid group and their language is Tibetan-Burmese. Although originally animists, rabhas gradually integrated Hinduism into their spiritual practices.
We will spend a few days with the Rabha community in a small village on the shores of the Chandubi lake, housed in traditional bamboo huts and surrounded by beautiful lush landscapes and deep forests where it is common to cross wild elephants. We will be able to participate in the preparation of local meals and taste traditional dishes of the community. Our hikes in the jungle will lead us to other enriching encounters with the inhabitants of the lake.
