Kinnaur during the Fulaich festival

Kinnaur during the Fulaich festival

€2500 per person

A 16-day trip to the Kinnaur region, the hidden treasure of Himachal Pradesh, to witness the flower festival and discover the richness of the indigenous Kinnaur culture.

The Phulaich festival, or “flower festival,” is celebrated throughout the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is also known as “Ookayand” and “Ukyam.” It falls on the sixteenth day of the Hindu month of “Bhadrapad,” which corresponds to August-September in our Gregorian calendar. It is the blooming season for the wildflowers of the upper regions of Kinnaur, particularly the sacred “Brahma Kamal” (Saussurea obvallata), the white lotus of the Hindu god Brahma.

This festival not only celebrates the grandeur of Mother Nature, but is also held in remembrance of ancestors. Alcohol, rice, and other delicacies are presented to the deceased.

Each village in Kinnaur has its own rituals. You will witness those in Nesang, which seem unchanged since their origins and literally transport you to another world.

In addition to Fulaich, you will visit the unique architectural heritage of Kinnaur and embark on short treks with the magnificent Himalayan range as a backdrop.
